Two of Westminster's graduating seniors this year are Cook and Paula Jo Porter. The founder's of Westminster's mock trial team-a group that competes academically in courtrooms as attorneys and witnesses in an assigned case.

Finally, four pounds down

Great news!

I've lost about four pounds during week six and seven of my weight loss project. With continued persistence, I'm starting to feel healthier each week.

Ha! Ha! Food Gods, Jen Soto-Allred will lose weight no matter what. Here's an update of my progress during week six and seven.

A queen's conversion to basketball

Basketball was dead to me.

Well it was dead, until I met Michael Stockton.

He and I were 2010 Mr. Westminster candidates. Normally I avoid hyper-masculine ESPN watching athletic males in favor of the sensitive, let's eat a pint of Ben and Jerry's and watch "Sleepless in Seattle" types.

Westminster Griffins claim Frontier Conference championship

The Westminster men's basketball team won its second consecutive Frontier Conference Tournament championship thanks to a 76-68 win over No. 22 Montana Western.

No. 4 Westminster (26-5) picked up their 13th straight victory and claimed an automatic invite to the 2010 Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship.

Shane McConkey

"I wanted to prove a point," said Shane McConkey (1969-2009) in an interview for "Freeskier Magazine," "and I ripped the hell out of 'em down the mountain."

With several cameras recording for the biggest ski movie of 2003, the skiing legend stood at the top of a gnarly big-mountain descent in British Columbia.

All I know is that I'm terrified.

Coming home

When people ask me where I'm from, my first impulse is to answer, "Beneath the firs and the pines. Amongst rivers, lakes, mountains and trees. At the base of an active volcano." However my internal filter reminds me to be a little less ambiguous with my responses, so I usually just say, "Oh, Oregon and Northern California," which seems to get across to most people with little or no explanation.
